What is Home Hospitality?

HH means that guides and scouts from abroad visit Finnish families.

When will Home Hospitality be organised and how long will it last?

HH is organised primarily after the camp and it lasts 3 to 4 days.

Who can participate in Home Hospitality?

All scouts and guides from abroad participating in Tarus Finnjamboree have a possibility to take part in Home Hospitality.

What will the host families offer to their guests during Home Hospitality?

The host families will offer their guests room and board but the guests are expected to pay the travel expenses themselves. Host families may also organise some activities for the visits but this is totally optional for the hosts. They may also give you an opportunity to do some laundry after the camp.

How many guests will be placed in one host family?

One or more guests will be placed in one host family according to the wishes of both the host family and the guest.

In which part of Finland do the host families live?

The host families live in all parts of the country. Most host families will probably live in the big towns of southern Finland but we will also have some host families from Finnish Lapland and from other more remote areas.

Will all the members of the group, which is travelling together, be placed in the same town or area during Home Hospitality?

Yes. We will do our best to organise all the Home Hospitality so all the members of the same group can stay near to each other but we cannot promise anything at the moment. We might have to split big groups into smaller sub-groups.

How will the transportation to and from the host family be organised?

The HH-team tries to co-ordinate transportation to and from the host families. Hosts may also organise your transportation. All expenses related to transportation are still expected to paid by the guest.

When will I get the name and address of my host family?

You will get the name and address of your host family after we have placed all the guests to the families. Hopefully, this information will be available by the time of the second camp letter.

Is there a possibility to meet my host already during the camp?

Yes. We will organise an HH-event during the camp, in which everyone has an opportunity to meet his/her host. In addition you will receive information about where your host is staying during the camp, in order for you to be able to visit your host during the camp.
