Welcome to Tour of FinlandThe Tour of Finland is fully booked! There might be some spaces left if some participants make cancellations. During the Tour we spend one night at a camp centre and two nights in local schools. There are no beds in the classrooms, so we will sleep on the floor. Therefore you need a sleepingbag and a camping mattress. Other equipment you will need is a plate, a cup and cutlery; a towel, swimsuit and toiletries; clothes; and a small bag to carry the things you need during the excursions. You can also bring a camera if you want to - there will be beautiful scenery and many sights to be photographed. Tour of Finland is going to cost 135 euros, which includes the bus fares, lodging, and food, plus transfers to the airport or port. It is advisable to bring some pocket money for ice cream, post cards and souvenirs. We are organising accommodation in Helsinki for an extra night after the Tour of Finland for those groups who will travel back home on Monday 9th August. Accommodation will cost 10 €/person and it includes breakfast. Tour of Finland price (135 €) includes transportation from Turku to Helsinki on Sunday 8th August. You'll get more information about the Tour in the third information letter! ******* Tour of Finland is a journey made after the camp instead of Home Hospitality. With the Tour you are going to see the most beautiful places as well as the most spectacular sights of Southern parts of Finland. The Tour of Finland is made with other guides and scouts in a scout-like manner. You will be staying overnight in scout and guide houses and getting acquainted with Finnish guides and scouts. On the Tour of Finland both old and new sides of Finland will be seen. Helsinki, the capital city of Finland, will be visited and you are likely to see places you wouldn´t experience on a casual holiday. During the Tour you will spend time with other foreign scouts and guides as well as Finnish. You will get familiar with the Finnish scouting and guiding culture, having both small and big experiences. On Thursday 5th August we will leave the camp early in the morning. The Tour of Finland will end on Sunday 8th August in Turku at about 2 pm. After that we will take you to the harbours and airports of Turku and Helsinki, where we will be at about 4 pm. If you have problems in arranging your return journey, we are able to offer you accomondation in Turku at reasonable price. During the Tour of Finland, we drive through beautiful Finnish towns, we will visit Helsinki, our capital city. In Helsinki we’ll go sightseeing and take a ferry to an old 19th-century fortress, Suomenlinna, situated in the archipelago of Helsinki. After having seen Helsinki we continue our trip to Tampere. In Tampere we will meet Finnish guides and scouts who help us to get to know the town. We also visit Rauma, an old town near the see. The town is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. We end our tour to Turku, which is the oldest town in Finland. We visit the outdoor museum Luostarinmäki. It provides insight into 18th and 19th century ways of Finnish life. During the Tour of Finland you will learn many interesting and fun facts about Finland, Finns and Finnish culture. We will stay overnight indoors in facilities used by local guide and scout units. Your tour guides are also going to organize scout-like activities during the Tour.
